Koi Pond Filtration System

The koi pond filtration system is in general related to the volume of water, therefore the bigger the koi pond the bigger the filter system. This is important to consider at the outset as its quite often the size of the koi pond filtration system and where it can be housed that puts limits on the koi pond itself.

There are various ways in which the koi pond filtration system can be built. We have a few different ways in which we offer this but our preferred method is a koi pond multibay system. This type of koi pond filtration uses bay with filter media and chambers to take out the debris in the water as well as other very important parts to the system such as putting oxygen into the water. The koi filter system goes through a series of bays, first being a vortex filter chamber which takes out the main fish waste and from there the next bays take out finer and debris. The end of the koi pond filtration then polishes the water and adds the oxygen into the water.

This type of koi pond filtration system is proven and in essence is the same as that used in main sewerage plants across the country. The filter system breaks down the waste and takes out the debris that is not broken down after time. The multibay koi pond filtration system has many special features which are important to the overall efficiency of the system. Not least if the cleaning and emptying of the koi pond filtration system. From time to time the filter bays need to be cleaned. This filter cleaning exercise is carried out using the various koi pond filtration service valves we fit into the system and then back flushing the filter media in the filter system.
